ZAGREB - CROATIA
Having not visited Croatias´ capital during my first visit to the country, I decided to make a brief stopover in Zagreb on my northward trip back to Germany. Despite receiving quite poor reviews amongst other travellers I had spoken to, I was definately not dissapointed and really enjoyed pottering around the city and exploring some of the older and architecturally more interesting regions.
Following a very early arrival on an overnight train from Belgrade, my fellow companions and I eventually traversed the 6 or so kilometres to our hostel (on foot, which was pretty stupid) and after catching up on some well needed rest and attending to a most disagreeable stomach, I spent the afternoon just enjoying the great weather and exploring different parts of the city centre. In the early evening, I found a great vantage point overlooking the city, where I just relaxed and watched as the soft light illuminated the city.
That evening I brushed up on my table-tennis skills, which had not been put to use since Christmas and then showed a few of the people at the hostel, a thing or 2 about how to play cards. The next day I just chilled out in the morning before taking myself to the bus station and departing to Ljubljana.
Although not a particularly long stay, I really enjoyed my time in Zagreb and would definately return there on future trips in the former-Yugoslav region.
